BiH to Initiate Construction of Flood Protection System in Sava River Basin

The Foreign Trade Chamber of BiH today sent a request to the Eurochamber, asking the organization to encourage its members to influence their governments to donate as much as possible at the upcoming donor conference for BiH, so that BiH can overcome the economic crisis caused by the floods more easily and quickly, reports the BiH news agency Patria.

It was also agreed today that Bosnia and Herzegovina will initiate a meeting of chambers of commerce from the Sava river basin, which will launch an initiative to regulate the flow of the Sava River as a joint project of BiH, Serbia, Austria, Slovenia, and Croatia. These projects would also be presented to EU institutions.

Nemanja Vasić, the newly elected president of the Foreign Trade Chamber of BiH, told Patria that regulating the flow of the Sava River entails the construction of a flood protection system for this river, which is not only a BiH problem but also a European one.

Representatives of the Foreign Trade Chamber of BiH held a meeting today in Sarajevo with Marko Evers, representative of the Association of German Chambers of Commerce, with whom they discussed Germany's experiences during floods in that country, and the ways in which the country's authorities overcame the crisis caused by the floods, reports Patria.
