BiH should get a new national stadium with a capacity of 30,000 seats

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Representatives of UEFA and FIFA visited the Football Association of Bosnia and Herzegovina in January, and photos from the meeting showed that images of the new stadium of the BiH national team are already on the walls of the premises in the FS BiH building.

According to information from the portal reprezentacija.ba, the stadium will be called “BiH Arena”, will have a capacity of 30,000 seats, and will meet the conditions for hosting all UEFA and FIFA competitions.

Unofficial information is that UEFA and FIFA have already confirmed that they will help with this project, but expect local authorities to secure the land and the construction project, which the Municipality of Novi Grad is ready to do by providing land in the Halilovići settlement. It should be noted that the location of the new stadium was visited last year by the Minister of Civil Affairs of BiH, thus confirming interest in this project.

The Football Association of BiH would apply for the stadium's opening to be held by hosting a UEFA or FIFA cup competition.

Halilovići looks like an excellent location for the new stadium, as it is located near the highway exit, which, as planned, should come practically to the stadium itself by the completion of construction.

The stadium would be located within the “Safet Zajko” sports center, which already offers infrastructure facilities for recreational and professional sports to the citizens of Sarajevo.

The concept of a combination of land provided by the local community and funding from UEFA and FIFA should be similar to the concept according to which the Training Center of the Football Association of BiH was built, where the land was provided by the City of Zenica, and the money by the European and world football governing bodies.

Realistic dates for construction are still not being discussed.
