Library in Maglaj to start working on August 20

The Maglaj Public Library on Wednesday, August 20 at 6:00 PM organizes a gathering with individuals and organizations that have helped and are helping the reconstruction of this library, which will also mark the beginning of elementary work with users, confirmed Nina Salkić, director of the only library in Maglaj, writes the Bosnian news agency Patria.

- Work is being done on arranging the walls, shelves are already being placed in those parts that have been painted. According to estimates, about 15,000 books have been collected. This will be just a small token of appreciation for all those who came to our aid when we needed it – said Salkić.

Renovation work will continue according to possibilities, but work with users will proceed without interruption. It should be recalled that this library lost 28,000 books during the May floods, and thanks to the quick organization of director Salkić, employees, and numerous donors and citizens from all parts of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the book collection campaigns were very successful.

Many notable figures visited the destroyed library, and numerous businessmen donated materials needed for the reconstruction, writes Patria. 

The Maglaj Public Library was founded in 1958 and this year marks its 56th anniversary. For ten years now, the library has been organizing the event "Mulabdić Days of Culture" in honor of the native Maglaj writer Edhem Mulabdić.
