BH Greens Demand Investigation and Disclosure of Motives for Arson of MP Amir Hurtić's Car

(Patria) - The political party BH GREENS strongly condemns the brutal attack on their MP in the National Assembly of the RS, Amir Hurtić, whose car was set on fire last night in front of his family home in the Grapska settlement near Doboj by unknown persons, in a brutal attack on his property.

"Of course, since this act occurred in front of the MP's family home, in addition to destroying his private property, this attack can also be considered an assault on his life and family. Regardless of the motives and ultimate intent of the perpetrators and instigators, their political or ethnic affiliation, as a parliamentary political party we consider this an unacceptable and completely intolerable way of acting in a free democratic society," the statement reads.

It adds: "In this sense, we give full support to the RS Ministry of Interior in conducting a professional investigation and the earliest possible discovery and bringing of the perpetrators, and especially the instigators of this cowardly act, to justice."

"It should be particularly borne in mind that MP Amir Hurtić is one of the more active MPs in the RS National Assembly, representing Bosniaks and the returnee population to which he himself belongs. Therefore, we rightly ask our public and institutions what an ordinary citizen or returnee can expect in the future in a situation where an MP is attacked so insolently and brutally. We tell the attackers and their instigators that MP Amir Hurtić is not alone and that BH GREENS will continue their work and political struggle in the institutions of the RS entity and the state of BiH to strengthen the position and status of all citizens of the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina and returnees in every part of our homeland," they emphasize.

They note: "Without wishing to influence the work of the competent institutions in any way, as a political organization we demand that this case be resolved as soon as possible and the perpetrators punished, because that is the least that professional institutions can do for both the MP and the returnee community and Bosniaks in the BiH entity of Republika Srpska."
