BH train transported 100,000 passengers in a year

Exactly one year ago, on 26.09.2016, Željeznice FBiH introduced the first Talgo set of the modern "BH train" into service on the Sarajevo-Doboj-Sarajevo route. Since then, the number of passengers has been growing day by day.

With the opening of the line to the south on 08.06.2017, Željeznice FBiH reconnected Sarajevo and Čapljina with the "BH train", and on 15.06.2017, a seasonal express "BH Train" was introduced on this route with contracted bus connections to Neum and Makarska. Also, the Sarajevo-Banja Luka line was re-established on 01.08.2017, and Tuzla was connected by rail to these two cities for the first time.

With the introduction of these high-quality modern trains into service, Željeznice FBiH's passenger transport has experienced a real expansion. Passengers have recognized the quality, affordable prices, top comfort, and friendliness of the Željeznice FBiH staff.

The first indicator that Željeznice FBiH made the right move by introducing these trains into service was when, on 01.07.2017, due to the exceptionally large number of interested passengers and sold-out tickets, they had to introduce a double set of the "BH train" towards the south.

On the occasion of the World Diving Championship held in Mostar on 16.09.2017, Željeznice FBiH introduced three additional special "BH train" compositions in addition to the regular line, as tickets to Mostar were in high demand that day.

- Appreciating the needs of our service users, Željeznice FBiH plans to connect Sarajevo with Bihać in the near future. Certain activities have already been undertaken in this regard, primarily related to the electrification of a part of the "Una railway", after which conditions will be created to connect Sarajevo and Bihać with the "BH train". This would mean fulfilling one of the strategic goals of ŽFBiH – to connect all major Bosnian cities by rail passenger transport.

In the past year, Željeznice FBiH transported approximately 100,000 passengers with regular and special "BH trains", which represents an increase of 32%, and we have doubled the revenue from ticket sales in passenger transport.

We thank our service users for their trust and will make maximum efforts to raise the quality of our services to an even higher level, all in accordance with their demands and needs. In order to operate more efficiently, ŽFBiH will soon introduce online ticket sales, which will significantly reduce queues at counters and provide a higher quality service.

We invite all interested organizations, companies, schools, cultural and sports institutions, and other institutions to use our services, because Željeznice FBiH has the most modern passenger capacities and the ability to transport all passengers to their desired destination in BiH according to European standards - it was announced from Željeznice FBiH.
