BH Telecom Provided the Most Assistance for Flood Recovery

This year's DOBRO Philanthropy Award ceremony was complemented by a special recognition presented to BH Telecom for its support to flood-affected areas in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Mozaik Foundation announced, reports the BH News Agency Patria.

- With a swift reaction and a decision to donate 1 million KM to the Federal Fund for Assistance to Affected Areas, BH Telecom has earned the awarded recognition. In addition to this, during the floods, BH Telecom distributed over 100 mobile phones with SIM cards to the affected population, hundreds of backpacks, t-shirts, blankets, and other equipment, and established a toll-free donation hotline.

BH Telecom, in the spirit of social responsibility, links the development of Bosnian society and the realization of benefits for the wider community to its development strategy. In addition to the aforementioned donation, in 2014 alone, it allocated an additional 191,800 KM for the implementation of 179 projects in the fields of culture and sports.

BH Telecom's corporate philanthropy strategy includes regular investment in education and support for young people through scholarship programs, enabling practical work experience within the company, as well as donating computer equipment to primary and secondary schools in Bosnia and Herzegovina. In 2013 alone, BH Telecom awarded 55 scholarships to students amounting to 200 KM per month until the completion of their studies. After graduation, students will have the opportunity to complete their internships and be employed at BH Telecom. Ediba Žugor, the top student of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering in Sarajevo (Computer Science and Informatics major) and one of the scholarship recipients, stated that she will strive to fulfill her obligations under the scholarship agreement and thanked BH Telecom for continuously awarding scholarships to students and investing in the education of young people.

The importance of corporate philanthropy for this company was explained by the Director of BH Telecom, Nedžad Rešidbegović.

- Allocations for corporate philanthropy make BH Telecom's business success even more significant, as it shows that we are an integral part of the community in which we operate, that we follow societal needs and strive to contribute to its development in the best possible way. Business operations that do not include corporate philanthropy in their strategic actions represent a neglect of the community in which they operate, which is unacceptable - said Rešidbegović.
