Bosnian elementary school graduates increasingly opt for technical schools

An increasing number of students in Bosnia and Herzegovina are enrolling in secondary technical schools after elementary school, where they acquire specific professions, reports the Bosnian news agency Patria.

Although top students were exclusively reserved for grammar schools in the past, more and more of them are now ending up in the classrooms of technical schools.

Enisa Musakadić, deputy director of the Secondary Mechanical Technical School in Sarajevo, told the news agency Patria that out of 40 students who applied for the first grade in their school this academic year, the majority are excellent and very good students.

- We still have places for about 60 students, among whom we also expect the largest number of talented children - said Musakadić.

Mechanical professions are in short supply in BiH, as well as in EU countries, especially Germany, so students from the Sarajevo mechanical technical school, as well as similar schools in the country, have no problems finding employment.

Engineer Amra Škapur, a professor at the Sarajevo mechanical school, previously stated that modern industry today is unimaginable without the mechanical profession and mechanical knowledge, which is why students from their school go directly from high school classrooms to factories, reports NAP.
