BH-Gas gas supply reduced by 35%

The gas supply to BH-Gas has already been reduced by 35%, confirmed by BH-Gas. This reduction should not affect households, but it has been confirmed that there has been a decrease in gas supply to KJKP „Toplane“ as they are supplied with gas by Sarajevogas, writes the Bosnian news agency Patria.

The company BH-Gas also issued a press release confirming this information.

- As we previously informed the public, and as was confirmed during the meeting of Energoinvest and BH-Gas with Gazprom Export on October 7 this year, gas deliveries to the whole of Europe have been reduced. During yesterday, there was an additional reduction in gas deliveries to our country from the Russian Federation, which caused difficulties in deliveries to end consumers. From the gas importer, the company Energoinvest d.d. Sarajevo, we received an official notice sent by Gazprom Export that the reduced gas deliveries are due to the storage of larger quantities in underground storage facilities in the Russian Federation, in order to ensure reliable delivery through the territory of Ukraine to European consumers during the winter season – stated BH-Gas.

They explain that gas storage facilities have not yet been built in BiH, from which gas could be used for some time in the event of a sudden interruption of supply, and this is a large investment whose implementation would take several years.

- BH-Gas currently has a contract with one company for the supply of gas in crisis situations, and since the beginning of this year has been working on finding other alternative solutions that will increase supply security. During yesterday, BH-Gas received 35 percent less gas than ordered. BH-Gas is intensively working on finding alternative solutions in accordance with its competencies and capabilities. In the long term, we are working on the development of alternative gas supply routes, as well as the construction of gas storage facilities, which primarily depends on the interests and readiness of the state and lower levels of government. The state will have to support these projects in order to ensure the long-term energy stability of Bosnia and Herzegovina – the statement said.

Incidentally, Patria previously wrote about the frantic accumulation of natural gas in Europe. Thus, Serbia filled its storage facility in Banatski Dvor to the brim with 450 million cubic meters of gas.

Hungary has limited gas deliveries, i.e., closed all gas flows towards Ukraine, the reason being the filling of storage facilities, as Hungarian storage facilities are not filled to the top, i.e., they are filled to about 40 percent. The goal is to fill all Hungarian storage facilities, and their capacity is over five billion cubic meters.
