Bosnian citizen requested help with evacuation from Lebanon

(Patria) - A citizen of Bosnia and Herzegovina located in Lebanon has requested state assistance for her and her mother's evacuation.

This information was confirmed today to Radio Slobodna Evropa (RSE) by the BiH Embassy in Jordan, which is also responsible for Lebanon.

- Sabina Nehme and her mother Hafa have valid BiH passports. The Embassy is working to help the BiH citizens - says Satko Bitanga, Minister Counselor at the BiH Embassy in Amman.

The two women contacted them by email, stating that there are no flights, that they are surrounded by bombing, and that they are located in Beqaa, eastern Lebanon, near the border with Syria.

"We came here after the shelling of Tyre began. We want to leave as soon as possible," Sabina Nehme wrote in an email to the Embassy.

Five more BiH citizens are in Lebanon. They work for United Nations agencies and have not requested BiH assistance for evacuation. There is also one BiH citizen in Lebanon who is a basketball coach. The Embassy stated that these individuals reported being safe.

"We have contacted all BiH citizens who have reported to us to date, registered them, and informed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of BiH of everything.

According to the information we have, it is currently only possible to leave Lebanon by land via Syria, which many Lebanese have already done while fleeing the war and Israeli bombing," the Embassy stated to RSE.

No BiH citizens have been injured or harmed in the Israeli attacks, according to information available to the Embassy from the Honorary Consulate of BiH in Beirut, the Embassy of Lebanon in Amman, and official Lebanese institutions.

At the beginning of August, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of BiH warned citizens not to travel to Lebanon due to the deteriorating security situation.
