BiH citizens ask how they can return to BiH, for now there is no organised return

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of BiH established a telephone hotline for emergency calls at 033 281 309 and an email address [email protected] on 15 March 2020 for contacts of BiH citizens who are abroad and need to contact the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of BiH regarding the current situation with the coronavirus pandemic.

As confirmed to the Patria News Agency by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of BiH, numerous requests and inquiries have been received through these contact channels, and the situation is practically constantly changing given the calls that are coming in and being processed.
 
„Several dozen BiH citizens currently abroad have contacted the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of BiH with various inquiries regarding ways to return to Bosnia and Herzegovina. Most of these inquiries are from European countries, but there are also cases from Asia, the USA, Latin America, and Canada. As general advice, we suggest our citizens follow the real possibilities of returning via commercial flights, and for consular assistance, if needed, contact the competent diplomatic-consular missions of Bosnia and Herzegovina covering the country or region where they are currently located, given that for now no organised return of BiH citizens from abroad is planned“, responded the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for NAP.

Some of the countries with the highest number of registered requests are Germany - 79, Turkey - 26, the Russian Federation - 16, Egypt - 16, Spain - 10, but these are variable numbers given the very dynamic situation that changes from moment to moment.

“All incoming requests are recorded and constantly processed”, say the Ministry of BiH.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of BiH also confirmed that Minister Bisera Turković is normally performing her duties and that the ban on movement for those over 65 does not apply to her due to the nature of the work she performs in the current situation with the coronavirus.
