Bosnia and Herzegovina's Ambassador to the UN Avoided Voting on Crimea

Bosnia and Herzegovina avoided voting at the United Nations on the referendum in Crimea, reports the BiH news agency Patria (NAP).

In this way, BiH joined the 24 countries that did not vote at all on the UN resolution declaring the referendum in Crimea, Ukraine, null and void. The resolution was adopted with 100 votes in favour, 11 against, and 58 abstentions, while BiH was in the fourth group of countries that did not vote at all.

BiH Ambassador to the United Nations Mirsada Čolaković, as we have learned, received instructions from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of BiH to act in this manner, given that the Presidency could not agree on supporting this resolution. The Serbian delegation acted in the same way.

Serb member of the BiH Presidency Nebojša Radmanović vetoed and prevented BiH from joining the group of world countries opposing the secession of Crimea from Ukraine.

The resolution focuses on maintaining Ukraine's territorial integrity, and the stance that the international community will not recognize any territorial changes in Crimea or any part of Ukraine, or regarding the status of the Black Sea.
