No New Government Members in the Steering Committee: Kapetanović Announces Competition, New Director of KCUS to be Chosen

SARAJEVO, (Patria)  - The Steering Committee of the University Clinical Center Sarajevo has announced a competition for the selection and appointment of the General Director of KCUS, which was published today even though the KS Government dismissed and appointed two other members of the Steering Committee on August 22nd. The KS Government appointed Ismet Gavrankapetanović as president instead of Jasmin Kapetanović, and Belma Kapo as a member instead of Dželaludin Junuzović. To date, the Federal Minister of Health Vjekoslav Mandić (HDZ BiH) has not delegated this appointment to the FBiH Government, which appoints the Steering Committee.

Mandić is not responding to official inquiries as to why he has not acted for a month on the Decision of the KS Government as co-founder and two-thirds financier of KCUS and appointed two new members to the Steering Committee. With such actions, Mandić has left the KS Government without insight into the work of the Steering Committee because Kapetanović and Junuzović lost the trust of the KS Government and were dismissed before their term expired. 

The published competition was signed by Kapetanović himself in his capacity as president of the KCUS Steering Committee. The Steering Committee session was held on September 23rd. 

The Ministry of Health of the FBiH stated a few days ago that Mandić will consider the request of the KS Government and act in accordance with the law. 

In this way, the Steering Committee also wants to elect the current director of KCUS, Sebija Izetbegović, for a second term, who was the only candidate last time as well. It is expected that there will be no more candidates this time either. 

Among the special conditions of the competition, it is required that the candidate "possesses knowledge of health management", and proof of this should be a certificate of completed education in health management in accordance with the Rulebook on conditions regarding the type of completed higher education in the health field that must be met by persons applying for the director of a health institution. 

Multiple sources claim that Izetbegović also stated in the previous competition that she would complete the necessary education. It is unknown to this day whether she has done so.
