No agreement between DF and Abazović

(Patria) - Andrija Mandić and Milan Knežević spoke with Dritan Abazović on Monday, according to unofficial information from "Vijesti", but the key differences in views between the two political groups were not overcome. "Pobjeda" also states that no agreement was reached, reports FoNet.

The process of forming the government did not go quickly even when it was done by a dominant party like the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS), so it is not realistic for the process to go much faster when three coalitions, with dozens of constituents and a very diverse ideological structure, are to do it. This was assessed for "Vijesti" by the director of the Civic Alliance (GA) Boris Raonić, stating that the leaders of the coalitions should intensify mutual communication, as well as intra-party dialogue, at this stage of negotiations.

Negotiations on forming a new government are not progressing at the expected pace, although the Speaker of the Parliament of Montenegro should be elected at tomorrow's constitutive session.

The initial disagreement, mainly between representatives of the parties members of the "For the Future of Montenegro" coalition and the Civic Movement URA on how to form the government, was deepened by the stance of Dritan Abazović's party's Main Board that those who cause negative reactions from citizens should not be in power.

Although it was not stated who this referred to, it was clear during the talks between the negotiating teams that it concerned the leaders of the Democratic Front.

Andrija Mandić and Milan Knežević spoke with Abazović about this yesterday, according to unofficial information from "Vijesti", but the problem was not resolved.

Previously, Abazović also spoke on the same topic with the holder of the "For the Future of Montenegro" list, Zdravko Krivokapić, with whom, as stated to "Vijesti", there is no dispute about how the government should look.

The topic of bilateral talks was also the Law on Freedom of Religion, with the mediation of the Serbian Orthodox Church (SPC), but this should not be a point of contention or a subject of future misunderstandings. Krivokapić previously announced that a special agreement would be signed on this matter.

That the negotiations between the leaders of the Democratic Front Andrija Mandić and Milan Knežević with the president of the Civic Movement Ura Dritan Abazović, with the mediation of Bishop Joanikije Mićović of Nikšić, ended on Monday without any agreement, "Pobjeda" also writes today.

The meeting between the DF leaders and Abazović, with the mediation of the SPC, took place after the negotiations of the tripartite coalition on forming the government were interrupted, and the constituents of the "Together for the Future of Montenegro" coalition asked Abazović to declare himself on the personnel he does not want in the government, as well as on the repeal of the Law on Freedom of Religion, the paper states.

More sources of "Pobjeda" stated that at the meeting, Mandić and Knežević, who represented the coalition, explicitly asked Abazović for a statement on specific names of people from DF and the ZBCG coalition whom he does not want in the government, as well as on the repeal of the Law on Freedom of Religion.

According to unofficial information from "Pobjeda", Abazović is under pressure from the SPC on one hand, and from party bodies on the other, because influential party members, such as Božena Jelušić, Filip Adžić, and Srđan Pavićević, are not in favor of repealing the law.

The stalemate in the negotiations of the tripartite coalition, according to "Pobjeda's" findings, has called into question the election of the Speaker of Parliament, which was announced for September 23.

Just one hour before the DF's negotiations with Abazović with the mediation of the SPC, the leader of the Movement for Changes and a candidate for MP on the "For the Future of Montenegro" list, Nebojša Medojević, added fuel to the fire with a statement that "a government in which he is will not allow the smuggling of cigarettes and drugs."
