Free Winter Stay and Skiing for Elementary School Students from Stari Grad

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The Stari Grad Municipality is organizing free winter stay and skiing school for elementary school students from Stari Grad this year as well, and for the first time this year also for children from the Mjedenica Institute. The first group leaves for Igman on Monday, January 13, and it is planned that 65 students will attend the skiing school this winter.

The winter stay and skiing school are organized for fifth-grade students whose parents cannot afford expensive equipment, instructors, and stays in the mountains. The Stari Grad Municipality provides them with a five-day stay on the mountain with full board, equipment, instructors, and use of the ski lift, as well as medical supervision and insurance. During the evening hours, themed evenings will be organized for the students: karaoke, quizzes, board games, and movie nights.

Incidentally, this is the fourth year that the winter stay has been organized for elementary school students, while the Stari Grad Municipality has been funding the skiing school for almost twenty years, and the elementary school students on Igman are visited every year by the municipal mayor, Mr. Ibrahim Hadžibajrić.

"We have been organizing free winter stays for our elementary school students for the fourth consecutive year. Not only do they learn to ski, but they also have the opportunity to socialize and spend some time in clean air at this time of year when Sarajevo is significantly affected by smog and pollution," said Hadžibajrić. It is estimated that more than 4,000 elementary school students have learned to ski through this project so far.

The winter stay will be organized this year, as in previous years, at Veliko polje on the Olympic mountain Igman, at the 'Ozonski raj' home.

Two groups of participants are planned:

Group I – from Monday, January 13 to Friday, January 17 (Elementary School "Edhem Mulabdić", Elementary School "Saburina", Elementary School "Hamdija Kreševljaković" and Mjedenica Institute)

Group II – from Monday, January 20 to Friday, January 24 (Elementary School "Vrhbosna", Elementary School "Šejh Muhamed ef. Hadžijamaković" and Elementary School "Mula Mustafa Bašeskija")

For the project "Igman 2020", the Stari Grad Municipality allocated about 15,000 convertible marks.
