Free School Lunches for Elementary School Students from Centar

The Department for Labour, Health and Social Affairs, Refugees and Displaced Persons of the Municipality of Centar Sarajevo is implementing a project of free school lunches for elementary school students from socially vulnerable families from Centar. In 2015, for 486 beneficiaries in a state of social need from 11 elementary schools, as well as the Centre for Auditory and Speech Rehabilitation and the Public Institution for Upbringing, Education and Rehabilitation "Vladimir Nazor" Sarajevo, the Municipality of Centar finances free school lunches during the school year, reports the Patria News Agency.

– An individual amount of 16 KM is allocated for each child, which we pay to the accounts of school lunch suppliers with whom the schools have concluded agreements. Children who are entitled to child allowance are eligible for free school lunches. In 11 elementary schools in Centar, we have 430 students, in the Centre for Auditory and Speech Rehabilitation, 51 students, and five students from the "Vladimir Nazor" Centre who come from the area of Centar are eligible for this right. 80,000 KM is allocated for this project in the budget of the Municipality of Centar every year.

Lists with children's names are provided by the schools, which our department verifies and creates a final list with the names of elementary school students who meet the conditions for free school lunches, stated Mersida Veiz, expert associate in the field of social protection in the Department for Labour, Health and Social Affairs, Refugees and Displaced Persons of the Municipality of Centar.

Of the mentioned number, the most children come from the Elementary School "Nafija Sarajlić" (124), followed by the schools "Alija Nametak" (75), "Hasan Kaimija" (64), "Hasan Kikić" (29), "Isak Samokovlija" (8), "Catholic School Centre" (30), "Mehmed-beg Kapetanović Ljubušak" (34), "Musa Ćazim Ćatić" (30), "Safvet-beg Bašagić" (8), "Silvije Strahimir Kranjčević" (11), "Vladislav Skarić" (14).
