Bešlić, Čolić, Ukraden, Matić: Kemo and his songs will live forever

A large number of music greats from all parts of the former Yugoslavia and the world came to Sarajevo today to bid farewell to their friend and colleague Kemal Monteno.

Upon entering the NP Sarajevo, few of them held back tears. Neda Ukraden said that Kemal Monteno is the best thing ever created in Sarajevo, reports the Bosnian news agency Patria.

- It is very hard for me and I didn't sleep all night. I simply cannot believe he is gone. All of our friendship of over 40 years was going through my mind. Even today, as always, I enjoy singing "Sarajevo ljubavi moja" - said Ukraden.

Zdravko Čolić pointed out today that he often spoke with Monteno, especially before concerts, and that he did so even the last time he had a concert.

- At that time he told me good luck, and I will miss his good luck for the rest of my life - said Čolić.

Halid Bešlić told Patria that he believes Monteno's songs "Sarajevo, ljubavi moja", "Dušo moja", "Lidija" will never stop being sung, and that he will do his best during his lifetime to ensure that is the case.

- Kemo created incredible songs. He chose every verse, and today I can say that he is a blend of Sarajevo and Italy, a blend of the best that these two countries can offer in music - emphasized Bešlić.

Saša Matić said through tears that he still cannot believe his friend is gone.

- Even at a time when music was not so accessible, I collected his records, and when I met him I realized what kind of man he was. He will live forever for me - said Matić.
