Bešlagić: Lagumdžija is returning to SDP leadership through an invented Council

Zlatko Lagumdžija, as president of the newly formed Social Democratic Party Council, will have, as far as I know, great powers within the party, although it is still unclear to me who founded this council and why – stated Selim Bešlagić, a member of SDP BiH who was also a candidate for party president at the extraordinary Congress.

Besides Nermin Nikšić, the current president of SDP BiH, he was considered the biggest favorite for this position.

The Main Board of SDP proposed the former party president Zlatko Lagumdžija for the president of the Council for Strategy and Development of Society and State of SDP.

However, many warn that this is a well-thought-out strategy for Lagumdžija's return to SDP by giving him an invented position, making him an automatic member of the Main Board, even though the party, led by Lagumdžija, which he managed for a full 17 years, suffered a major electoral defeat in the October General Elections in BiH.

In an interview with the BiH news agency Patria, Bešlagić said that he cannot speculate at this moment about the goals of establishing the Commission and appointing Lagumdžija to its head, and whether Lagumdžija will indirectly manage SDP again, but it is clear, he claims, that this is an unprecedented precedent in the party.

- SDP BiH has never had a commission of this type, and why should it be founded precisely now. Furthermore, Lagumdžija should be asked which state he will develop through this commission – probably some virtual one – stated Bešlagić, writes NAP.
