Berton with Lajčak: RS referendum must be set aside

 

First Deputy High Representative, Bruce G. Berton, met in Sarajevo with the former High Representative and current Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of Slovakia, Miroslav Lajčak, reports the Patria News Agency.

During the meeting, the current political situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina was discussed. Berton emphasized the obligation of all key political actors in BiH to fully respect the Dayton Peace Agreement.

-The proposed referendum in RS represents a serious and direct challenge to the Peace Agreement and must be immediately set aside, said First Deputy High Representative Berton, expressing his expectations that the new EU initiative for BiH will give new impetus to the long-awaited reforms and faster progress of BiH on the path of Euro-Atlantic integration, the OHR announced.
