Berkovac: We are ready to defend the country again!

Fighters and true defenders of BiH are always ready to stand on the front line and defend the country again, said Izet Berkovac, a fighter and one of the wartime commanders of the glorious 105th Motorized Brigade of the Army of RBiH, which is celebrating its 21st anniversary today, to the BiH news agency Patria (NAP) today.

Berkovac attended the official commemoration of this important anniversary, but he is somewhat disappointed, as are all true fighters, saying that he does not see improvement in the future. He emphasized that the 105th Motorized Brigade was one of the largest brigades in the Army of RBiH. It had about 7,000 fighters, of whom about 2,000 were wounded, 312 killed, and 8 "golden lilies".

The brigade recruited fighters from the area of the Centar municipality of Sarajevo, where it had a primary zone of responsibility 12 kilometers long, and during the war, it went to all battlefields in BiH. Izet says that he, like all fighters, tries to suppress bad memories.

- We will not talk about death, about injuries, about destruction, about tragedies. That is what we all try to suppress, and I would rather tell you a nice event, a nice interesting memory - Berkovac said in an interview with the BiH news agency Patria (NAP).

According to him, he and his comrades fought for the country, but they were replaced by deserters who, as he says, took advantage of their withdrawal and took power.

- There are no real fighters in power, nor in high positions. Real fighters are hungry, thirsty, and on the streets today. I don't believe it will get better for us in the future, because it will take us a long time to remove these people from power, those who brought us to this state. Bosnia will exist, it will survive, because regardless of everything, not only me, but all fighters, are ready to stand up again tomorrow if necessary to defend the people and the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina - said Berkovac.

The president of the organizing committee for the anniversary commemoration, Nedžad Ajnadžić, wartime commander of the First Corps of BiH, addressed the attendees and stated that all citizens of BiH have a duty to preserve the glorious and patriotic achievements of the defensive-liberation war, and that the time in which we live is a time of injustice and "our only response to injustice must be justice".
