(Patria) - Sarajevo Mayor Benjamina Karić (SDP BiH) spoke on social media, expressing support for Croatian singer Severina, who experienced unpleasantness upon entering Serbia and was detained for questioning. After that, Severina refused to enter Serbia. Severina will perform at the New Year's Eve celebration in Sarajevo, and the two-day organization of the performance will be paid 800,000 KM, the largest amount ever for a New Year's organization.
"Severina has once again proven her courage and unwavering commitment to positions that are correct, clear, and firm.
As the mayor of Sarajevo, a city that has always stood on the side of truth, I give her my full support in her fight for truth and justice, in her resistance against the authoritarian regime that oppresses its citizens and the entire region," Karić stated, adding:
"I invite all citizens of Serbia and the region, who value truth, justice, and freedom, to welcome the year 2025 in Sarajevo, together with us and Severina. Together we can and must build a society that does not tolerate injustice and oppression.
Welcome, Seve, and welcome, dear people," reads the post by the mayor of Sarajevo.
