Bekan: Ćamil's claims that I sold polling station committees to SNSD are untrue

(Patria) - Amer Bekan, president of the First Party, responded to accusations by former Srebrenica mayor Ćamil Duraković, stating that claims that he sold polling station committees to the Alliance of Independent Social Democrats (SNSD) are untrue.

"Perhaps I would have forgiven him slander because I can understand that he is desperately trying to cover up that he agreed to once again fall under the wing of the 'hated SDA' without which he has become politically impotent. I am not afraid of having a target painted on my back, but I cannot and will not allow anyone to endanger my family's safety for petty political gain. I will settle accounts with Ćamil personally, humanely and with dignity, in court, and politically I have clearly already upset him," Bekan's response reads.

He states that Ćamil's claims that he sold polling station committees to SNSD in Srebrenica are untrue.

"His problem is that new political entities are narrowing the space for his and the manipulations of other 'Bosniak do-gooders' who, apart from their own, have never seen any other political interest in Srebrenica. My problem is that I did not fulfill Duraković's wish to be part of his plan for vote rigging within the list on which his name is also included. His 'friends' from SNSD are helping him in this, so he probably has to justify himself in advance to the SDA for the attacks on others, from whom he still needs forgiveness for threats with weapons because he did not receive support to run for mayor," Bekan states.

He invited Ćamil Duraković to publicly release the alleged messages from the "Serb he was corresponding with".

"I claim that neither my name nor the First Party's name is there. It would also be good if he explained why he was corresponding with that Serb at all. Perhaps it is about trading Serb positions in polling station committees in parts of Srebrenica where only Bosniaks live. If so, then the new project of 'Bosniak unity' has already failed, although I doubt it truly exists. I responsibly claim that I personally, nor the First Party, have done anything with any move that would be exclusively in the interest of individuals," the response reads.

Ćamil Duraković accused Amer Bekan of selling polling station committee seats in Srebrenica to SNSD. He accused that Bosniak meddlers for whom nothing is sacred must learn that there are also those who will not back down at the first threats and blackmail.
