Begović signs for Chelsea for the next four years

Goalkeeper of the BiH national team Asmir Begović (28) has signed a four-year contract with FK Chelsea, the English club announced, reports the BiH news agency Patria.

Asmir will join Mourinho's team today and travel to Canada for preparations.

- I am very happy to have been given the opportunity to join a club like Chelsea - stated Asmir, who has already passed medical tests and officially become a new Blue.

- After talking with the manager for a long time, I feel this is the place where I can develop further and be an important part of the team. I look forward to Wednesday and the start of preparations for the new season.

After five years at Britannia, it is clear that leaving Stoke is an emotional day for the Bosnian-Herzegovinian representative.

- I want to thank everyone at Stoke City first and foremost, the chairman and the entire Coates family, Mark Hughes and Tony Pulis, goalkeeper coach Andy Quy, all my teammates, and especially the fans who made my family and me feel welcome in Stoke all this time - said Asmir.

- I truly enjoyed my time at Stoke, but I think it was the right time to accept the opportunity not only to develop further as a player but also for new challenges in my career. The English Premier League starts on August 8, 2015, when Chelsea will host Swansea at Stamford Bridge.
