Begović: I enjoy Real Madrid's interest, and I'd like Pape to stay

Asmir Begović, the goalkeeper of the BiH national team and English club Stoke, could be the new guardian of Real Madrid's goal, a piece of news that spread through BiH yesterday, writes the Patria News Agency. However, as Begović confirmed to NAP, he still knows nothing about it, but he enjoys such interest.

- Nothing has arrived at the club yet. There are a lot of speculations, and it's nice to hear that Real Madrid is interested in you, but I haven't spoken to anyone yet. After the holidays, I'm returning to Stoke for preparations, and then we'll see – says Begović.

He further stated that he is currently resting and taking care of personal matters that he had to postpone due to the World Cup in Brazil. Otherwise, Begović was one of the best players in the BiH team at the World Cup.

- I am still processing the impressions, and realistically speaking, it is a shame that we were eliminated. It could have been better, but in the end, we have a great experience. We enjoyed ourselves, we played three matches at the World Cup. We got new motivation to qualify for a major tournament. All our efforts to go to the World Cup paid off, and I hope we will also qualify for the European Championship – says Begović.

It is still uncertain whether coach Safet Sušić will remain on the bench of the BiH A team, but Begović points out that the time spent and the work with the popular Pape were invaluable.

- In the last two cycles that Pape has been leading us, we have done a good job. We get along very well with him, and we would certainly like him to remain the coach. But, generally, I don't decide, the Association does. They will see what's next. We have a good generation of players who can continue good performances in the qualifiers for the European Championship – added Begović.

Begović says he did not pay attention to various stories, but warned that everyone must be on the same page.

- I cannot speak for every player. I am speaking for myself. We were 100% focused on the matches and training, and I did not pay attention to any stories. I received many nice messages from people from BiH. The atmosphere was good, so I don't know anything negative, nor do I get involved in those things. I don't like that, and our success is shared by both fans and players. Negativity will not benefit anyone. I hope we will all be on the same page on a positive path – added Begović.
