Bećirović: In the United Nations, there is only one name, and that is the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina

(Patria) - Chairman and member of the BiH Presidency Željko Komšić and Denis Bećirović hosted a ceremonial reception this evening at the building of the collective head of state in Sarajevo on the occasion of November 25, the Day of Statehood of BiH.

Addressing those present, Bećirović said that BiH is one of the oldest European states, with roots that are exceptionally strong and deep.

According to him, these cannot be uprooted by small and transient politicians, as not even much larger and stronger forces than them could do so.

Bećirović emphasized that it is necessary to pay special attention to the equality of all languages, and in that context, to protect the Bosnian language from denial.

He stressed that preserving and respecting all languages is extremely important for the future of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

- We must invest much more in education, science, culture, and art. That is where the inexhaustible strength of BiH lies - added Bećirović.

He also noted that millions of Bosnians and Herzegovinians around the world should be proud of BiH, its statehood, perseverance, history, and heroes.

He also underscored that Bosnia and Herzegovina and its defenders have never been convicted of attacking anyone or committing genocide, and therefore it is unacceptable for BiH to be attacked by those who glorify convicted war criminals for committing genocide.

- We are legalists and threaten no one. That is why we can freely say that it is absolutely unacceptable for leaders of the BiH entity RS to threaten the independent, sovereign, and indivisible state of BiH - said Bećirović.

He also pointed out that BiH has existed for more than 1,000 years and that this state existed without entities, and he stated that entities never existed and never will exist outside the state of BiH.

- We best understand the threatened and disenfranchised, because we went through the Golgotha of the 1990s. That is why I once again most strongly condemn the killing of innocent civilians in the Middle East and Ukraine - added Bećirović.

He emphasized that there are no more or less valuable human lives, and that civilized people sincerely sympathize with the families of victims, regardless of their religious, ethnic, or any other affiliation.

- We are all just a small and transient grain in the infinite universe on this planet, and we should together defend civilizational values - stated Bećirović.

He called on everyone to protect their state of BiH when it is threatened, as well as to build a more positive social environment.

- Let us develop and build relations with all friendly countries on all meridians and parallels. Let us never jeopardize the Euro-Atlantic path of our country.

Moving towards NATO and the EU is our strategic commitment. This commitment has no serious alternative.

If I had to be the last person in our country to say this, I would still do so. This is of vital importance for the survival of the state of BiH - Bećirović believes.

He also stated that BiH has been guarded for centuries and will continue to be so in the times to come, and that what belongs to us is what the entire world recognized and what was permanently sealed in the UN on May 22, 1992.

On that day, Bećirović recalled, 175 countries of the world received our state into their family and confirmed international recognition, under the name Republic of BiH.

- To be precise, what is ours belongs to all citizens and peoples of BiH, to everyone together and to no one individually - said Bećirović.

He particularly emphasized that the planetary certificate of statehood, independence, and sovereignty was not issued to entities, cantons, cities, or municipalities.

- In the United Nations, there is only one certificate, only one address, and only one name, and that is the state of BiH.

Together, let us preserve the truth about the past, do not falter in the present, and believe in the future of BiH, and fight for it.

Let us be proud of the first 1,074 years since the land of Bosnia is mentioned in historical sources. Let us protect the people and the land, especially children and young people.

Let us equally protect Bosniak, Serbian, Croatian, and other children. They are our children and they deserve a peaceful and secure future - Bećirović concluded his address.
