Bećirović in Berlin: Germany will continue to strengthen BiH's defence capacities

(Patria) - Member of the BiH Presidency Denis Bećirović spoke with the Minister of Defence of the Federal Republic of Germany, Boris Pistorius, at the Ministry of Defence headquarters in Berlin.

Bećirović emphasised that the Federal Republic of Germany, as one of the key European partners, provides exceptional support to the reform and Euro-Atlantic integration processes in BiH, which is particularly reflected through significant participation in the NATO project for building the defence capacities of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

In this regard, Member of the BiH Presidency Denis Bećirović thanked Minister Pistorius for the concrete assistance of the Federal Republic of Germany, which pertains to the procurement of military equipment, uniforms, as well as the initiative to support the arrangement of facilities and infrastructure at locations of the Armed Forces of BiH.

Bećirović and Minister Pistorius agreed on the importance of maintaining stability and security in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Western Balkans region. The interlocutors noted that preserving the constitutional order of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Dayton Peace Agreement is of utmost importance.

During the talks, the Minister of Defence of the Federal Republic of Germany, Boris Pistorius, said that the two countries have very good cooperation in the field of defence, and that Germany is a partner of Bosnia and Herzegovina, strongly supporting reform processes in the defence sector.

He stressed that the Federal Republic of Germany will continue to provide strong support to BiH and its defence sector, particularly in terms of building state defence capacities, as well as overall security and stability.

Minister Pistorius, among other things, informed Bećirović about the continued participation of German soldiers in Operation Althea, and the firm commitment to implementing the EUFOR mandate in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Member of the BiH Presidency Denis Bećirović thanked for Germany's decision to have its soldiers participate in the Althea mission, and emphasised that this strengthens the capability and relevance of EUFOR forces in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
