Bećirović: BiH Prosecutor's Office should stop the attack on the constitutional order, not prosecute the heroes of BiH's defense

Member of the BiH Presidency Denis Bećirović, regarding the indictment against Ahmet Sejdić, Ferid Buljubašić, and eleven other members of the Army of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina for allegedly committed war crimes, called on the BiH Prosecutor's Office to act lawfully, independently, and professionally. The BiH Prosecutor's Office must not be a tool in the hands of those who wish to destroy the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Bećirović emphasized that the BiH Prosecutor's Office must urgently stop the brutal attack on the country's constitutional order. We are in the most difficult situation since the signing of the Dayton Peace Agreement, and the BiH Prosecutor's Office is not taking concrete steps to prosecute the destroyers of the constitutional order of the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Why has no one been prosecuted to date? Instead of prosecuting those who are destroying the state, the BiH Prosecutor's Office is persecuting the heroes of the defense of Goražde, Bećirović pointed out.

Expressing dissatisfaction with the selective approach of the BiH Prosecutor's Office in indicting individuals suspected of committing war crimes, Bećirović recalled that the so-called Army of Republika Srpska killed 120 and wounded 428 children during the three-and-a-half-year siege of Goražde. 2,000 civilians were killed. Therefore, the decision of the BiH Prosecutor's Office to indict those who defended civilians and children is an insult to all citizens of this country.

No one has yet been held accountable for these crimes. Although there is an "A" list that the Hague Tribunal, based on the Rome Statute and the Rules of Procedure, provided to the BiH judiciary, the BiH Prosecutor's Office is still ignoring it for reasons unknown to us.

By indicting defenders who legally defended the internationally recognized state of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the BiH Prosecutor's Office directly and (un)consciously revisionistically influences the character of the war in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The actions of the BiH Prosecutor's Office directed against those who defended themselves in accordance with international and national law are contrary to both human and legal logic.
