
(Patria) - Member of the BiH Presidency Denis Bećirović spoke with the newly appointed
Commander of the European Forces (EUFOR) in BiH, Major General Florin-Marian
Barbu.
The security situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina was discussed, as well as the extremely important
role of EUFOR in preserving peace and stability in our country.
Bećirović pointed out to the EUFOR Commander the importance of EUFOR effectively and decisively implementing its mission in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The fundamental tasks of EUFOR are to preserve the independence, sovereignty, and state borders of Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as continuous support for the High Representative of the international community in Bosnia and Herzegovina. EUFOR has a full mandate to take all necessary steps to prevent violations of the Dayton Peace Agreement and the constitutional order of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Bećirović pointed out that EUFOR, NATO, and the state authorities of Bosnia and Herzegovina must have intensive communication and, by all available means, protect peace, security, and the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina. He also warned that the adventurous anti-Dayton actions of the leadership of the Bosnian entity of RS must not be underestimated.
Major General Florin-Marian Barbu said that EUFOR, in accordance with its mandate, will continue to provide full support to peace, stability, and security throughout the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina. He said that one of EUFOR's goals is to ensure a peaceful and stable Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Bećirović emphasized that the institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina, with the support of international partners, will continue to work on protecting the constitutional order, the security of all citizens, and strengthening democratic values. Among other things, Dr. Bećirović said that full membership of Bosnia and Herzegovina in the EU and NATO is the best framework for lasting security and stability in Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as in the region.
During the conversation, Member of the BiH Presidency Denis Bećirović wished the new EUFOR Commander a successful mandate in the mission in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and expressed readiness to continue quality cooperation with EUFOR.
