(Patria) - Chairman of the BiH Presidency Denis Bećirović addressed the participants of the Crimean Platform in Kyiv via video link today.
Bećirović expressed "strong support for the heroic people of the independent and sovereign country of Ukraine", its leadership, and President Volodymyr Zelensky.
He emphasized that the competent authorities of Bosnia and Herzegovina have condemned Russia's annexation of Crimea as a violation of international law.
- Since the beginning of the Russian aggression against Ukraine, BiH has regularly joined EU statements, initiatives, and decisions condemning the aggression in international organizations - Bećirović explained.
He recalled that BiH, along with 140 other UN member states, expressed support for the UN General Assembly Resolution adopted on the occasion of the anniversary of the start of Russian aggression against Ukraine.
- The restoration of Ukraine's territorial integrity and sovereignty over its entire territory, including Crimea, is crucial for both Ukraine and the international community.
Bosnia and Herzegovina, as a victim of aggression from 1992 to 1995, deeply understands Ukraine's suffering. For this reason, the citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina have expressed their solidarity with the citizens of Ukraine.
To stand with Ukraine means to stand on the right side of history and to support the fundamental principles on which the civilized world is built - said Bećirović.
According to him, the majority of Bosnia and Herzegovina strongly supports Ukraine, and "supporting Ukraine means taking a civilized, legal, moral, political, and historical stance".
Bećirović concluded by stating that Bosnia and Herzegovina will continue to show solidarity with Ukraine.
- Ukraine's just struggle for the restoration of territorial integrity and sovereignty is of common interest to all democratic forces in Europe and the world - concluded Bećirović.
The Crimean Platform is an initiative of the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, launched in 2021, to diplomatically nullify Russia's annexation of the Crimean Peninsula in 2014.
The goals to be achieved are to bring the issue of Crimea back to the global agenda, protect human rights in Crimea, promote the de-occupation of the peninsula, and strengthen European and global security.
