(Patria) - Member of the BiH Presidency Denis Bećirović spoke with the new EUFOR commander in BiH, Major General László Sticz, and on that occasion wished him a warm welcome and a successful mandate in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Sticz took command of the EUFOR mission in Bosnia and Herzegovina on 31 January 2024, succeeding Major General Helmut Habermayer.
Bećirović called on EUFOR to consistently implement the UN Security Council Resolution, which defines its key tasks in BiH, including protecting the independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity of BiH, providing full support to the Office of the High Representative in BiH, and guaranteeing security for the return process and returnees.
He pointed to the important role of EUFOR in Bosnia and Herzegovina as a guarantor of stability and security, especially at a time when separatist forces are strengthening in our country.
Sticz expressed full commitment to the execution of Operation Althea and stated that he would continue the work of his predecessor in strengthening EUFOR's military capabilities and providing support to the Armed Forces of BiH.
He emphasised that in his actions he would uphold the fundamental principles on which the Mission is based and work to preserve peace and stability in BiH.
During the conversation, he pointed to the importance of the presence of international military forces.
Bećirović stressed that Bosnia and Herzegovina is committed to peace and preserving a stable environment for all citizens, as well as to the Euro-Atlantic perspective.
