
(Patria) - BiH Presidency member Denis Bećirović spoke today in Berlin with the Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany Olaf Scholz.
During a substantive conversation, Bećirović said that the relations between Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Federal Republic of Germany are very good and friendly, and that the Federal Republic of Germany has proven itself as a strong partner and friend of the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina from the 1990s to the present day.
Bećirović emphasized that it is very important for the highest officials of the Federal Republic of Germany to send clear messages that they unequivocally support Bosnia and Herzegovina, and to emphasize that there will be no quick or slow disintegration of the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Bećirović expressed special gratitude for the support that the Government of the Federal Republic of Germany provides bilaterally to Bosnia and Herzegovina through development aid in implementing reforms and building capacities in the process of European integration.
The Federal Republic of Germany is one of the most significant foreign trade partners of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The total foreign trade exchange between Bosnia and Herzegovina and Germany is constantly increasing, and last year it amounted to a record 5.6 billion KM.
Bosnia and Herzegovina's interest is to further strengthen economic cooperation with the strongest economic power in the European Union, and especially to attract foreign direct investment.
Bećirović informed the Chancellor about the importance of opening negotiations on Bosnia and Herzegovina's membership in the European Union as soon as possible.
In this way, Bećirović said, space will be opened for substantive reforms in Bosnia and Herzegovina, which will have positive effects on the Bosnian-Herzegovinian economy and society as a whole.
He particularly expressed gratitude for the engagement of the Federal Republic of Germany within the Berlin Process, with continued commitment and support from the Federal Republic of Germany aimed at accelerating the European integration of the Western Balkan countries, economic and infrastructural development, and improving regional cooperation.
Chancellor Scholz said that Germany is one of the main advocates for Bosnia and Herzegovina's European path, and that it remains a strong partner to Bosnia and Herzegovina in implementing reforms that will ensure the improvement of the rule of law, democracy, and economic development of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
He added that the Federal Republic of Germany's interest is to achieve lasting stability in the region by ensuring a European perspective for all Western Balkan countries.
