Bećirović with Koski: US wants a stable BiH, supports sovereignty and independence

(Patria) - BiH Presidency member Denis Bećirović held a meeting with the Chargé d'Affaires of the United States of America (USA) Embassy in Bosnia and Herzegovina Daniel Koski. During the meeting, views were exchanged on the current security and political situation in the country, as well as on the continuation of close cooperation between the USA and Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Bećirović recalled recent visits to Washington, Dayton, and New York, during which he held a series of important meetings with high-ranking US officials. During these talks, strong support from the USA for Bosnia and Herzegovina and its Euro-Atlantic and European path was confirmed, as well as readiness to improve overall interstate cooperation between Bosnia and Herzegovina and the USA.

Bećirović emphasized that Bosnia and Herzegovina continues to face attacks on its constitutional order and attempts to undermine state institutions, which come from the political leadership of the RS entity. He stressed that such destructive actions pose a continuous threat to stability and peace, not only for Bosnia and Herzegovina but also for the wider region. In this context, he particularly pointed out the need for strong and consistent international support for preserving the constitutional order of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Dayton Peace Agreement.

Continuing the conversation, Bećirović specifically highlighted the importance of strengthening economic and trade cooperation between Bosnia and Herzegovina and the USA. He informed his interlocutor that, on his initiative, the BiH Presidency held a series of extraordinary sessions from June to July 2025, with the aim of initiating bilateral economic consultations and agreements with the USA. The BiH Presidency adopted a Letter of Intent sent to the US Department of Commerce and gave consent for the signing of a Confidentiality Agreement regarding trade negotiations. This confirms Bosnia and Herzegovina's strategic commitment to developing institutional and economic relations with the USA.

Chargé d'Affaires Daniel Koski reiterated that the USA remains committed to supporting the independence, sovereignty, territorial integrity, and multi-ethnic character of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

He emphasized that the USA's interest is the stability of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the region, and that this is a prerequisite for stronger economic development.
