Bećirović with US Senators: Dodik's Chauvinistic Policy Threatens Peace and Stability in BiH and the Region

(Patria) - BiH Presidency Member Denis Bećirović spoke with a delegation of the US Senate, consisting of Senators Roger Wicker, Jeanne Shaheen, James Himes, Chris Murphy, Mark Kelly, and Ruben Gallego.

Bećirović stated that Dodik's chauvinistic policy is a continuation of his anti-Dayton and irresponsible policy.

- He and his closest associates remain factors of destabilization for Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Western Balkans. Instead of ceasing his anti-Dayton actions, he is once again advocating a dangerous policy that threatens the peace, stability, and the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

It is evident that Dodik's moves also violate the US Western Balkans Democracy and Prosperity Act, which was adopted at the end of 2025, and it is necessary to stop his dangerous destabilizing actions with adequate measures - Bećirović said.

During the meeting, energy security of Bosnia and Herzegovina was discussed, with an emphasis on the Southern Gas Interconnection project.

Bećirović emphasized that the Southern Gas Interconnection represents one of the most important strategic infrastructure projects for Bosnia and Herzegovina, as it enables diversification of gas supply sources, strengthens the state's energy independence, and reduces security risks.

He stressed that this is a project of state and geopolitical importance, which directly contributes to the stability of Bosnia and Herzegovina and strengthens its resilience to external pressures.

He particularly underlined that strong and continuous support from the US is crucial for the successful implementation of this project, and that the Southern Gas Interconnection represents a concrete example of strategic cooperation between Bosnia and Herzegovina and the US in the fields of energy, security, and economic development.

The American senators confirmed that the US supports the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and emphasized the importance of strengthening energy resilience and strategic infrastructure projects that contribute to the long-term stability of the state and the region.
