Bećirović discussed with Brian Mast: Reaffirm commitment to peace and a stable future for BiH

(Patria) - Member of the Presidency of BiH Denis Bećirović spoke with Congressman Brian Mast (Republican Party), Chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee of the United States Congress (USA).

Bećirović emphasized the importance of strong international support, especially from the USA, as a key strategic partner of Bosnia and Herzegovina in preserving the Dayton Peace Agreement. In this context, he informed Congressman Mast about the current security challenges in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and warned about the anti-Dayton and secessionist activities of the leadership of the BiH entity RS, which threaten peace and stability in the country and the region.

He added that the Dayton Agreement brought peace, but that precisely now, three decades after its signing, its foundations are being attacked. Therefore, he stressed that it is necessary to continue with clear and decisive support for state judicial institutions and law enforcement agencies, thereby preventing attempts to undermine the constitutional order of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Bećirović recalled that Bosnia and Herzegovina has proven to be a reliable ally of the USA through concrete actions in previous decades. He emphasized that Bosnia and Herzegovina remains strongly committed to strengthening its partnership with the USA, as it has done in various crisis areas, participating in NATO operations and US-led missions.

Bosnia and Herzegovina and the USA have developed a strategic partnership, reflected in close cooperation in the areas of security, counter-terrorism, strengthening democratic institutions, and foreign policy cooperation.

Bećirović highlighted the importance of the continuous engagement of the US Congress and the influential Foreign Affairs Committee in supporting the Euro-Atlantic integration of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Congressman Mast expressed readiness to support the institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina in preserving the constitutional and legal order of the state and security. He emphasized that the commemoration of the 30th anniversary of the signing of the Dayton Peace Agreement is an opportunity to reaffirm the commitment to peace, cooperation, and joint action for a more stable future for Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Western Balkans.

Before this meeting, Bećirović spoke with the Chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, Senator James Risch, the Deputy Chairman of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly's Committee on Defence and Security, Congressman Michael Turner, and the Chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee, Senator Roger Wicker.

At these meetings, certain joint activities were agreed upon, with the aim of strengthening the comprehensive cooperation between Bosnia and Herzegovina and the USA.

Further meetings with other US officials, as well as officials from NATO member states, are planned as part of Bećirović's visit to the USA.
