Bećirović spoke with Ambassador Fatima Kyari Mohammed, Head of the African Union Mission to the UN

(Patria) - Chairman of the BiH Presidency Denis Bećirović spoke with Ambassador Fatima Kyari Mohammed, Head of the African Union Mission to the United Nations (UN) in New York. The meeting was attended by the Ambassador of BiH to the UN, Zlatko Lagumdžija. During the talks, it was emphasized that the African Union is the largest continental organization in the world, bringing together 55 sovereign UN member states, many of which are developing
friendly relations with Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Bećirović thanked for the support of numerous African countries and recalled that Bosnia and Herzegovina received significant support from African countries during the 1992-1995 aggression, which also included the genocide in Srebrenica
in 1995.

"We exceptionally value friendly relations and wish to nurture friendship with African countries. At the summit of the Organization of African Unity (OAU) in Cameroon in 1996, Bosnia and Herzegovina was granted guest status, and our country continued to strengthen relations with numerous African Union countries," Bećirović stated.

The Chairman of the BiH Presidency recalled the fact that the UN General Assembly has already adopted resolutions on remembering genocide, encouraging the democratic world to commemorate the Holocaust, the genocide in Rwanda, and genocide in general, so the adoption of the resolution on Srebrenica will strengthen humanity's determination to condemn genocide, educate people about it, and prevent new genocides.
