
(Patria) - Member of the Presidency of BiH Denis Bećirović today received Ambassador of the Democratic People's Republic of Algeria Mohammed Meraimi on a courtesy visit.
Bećirović welcomed Ambassador Meraimi and expressed readiness to improve bilateral cooperation between BiH and Algeria, one of the most significant countries in Africa and the Arab world.
Meraimi conveyed the support of the authorities and people of Algeria to Bosnia and Herzegovina, emphasizing that Algeria remains committed to preserving peace and security in BiH. He also expressed dedication to supporting the independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity of BiH.
Bećirović informed his interlocutor about the attack on the constitutional order of Bosnia and Herzegovina by the leadership of the Bosnian entity of Republika Srpska, which is a direct threat to the peace, security, and progress of all citizens and peoples in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
It was stated that Bosnia and Herzegovina and Algeria have very good relations. The traditional historical friendship was also highlighted, which represents a good foundation for improving relations in all areas, especially in the economy and trade relations.
It was emphasized that the relations between the two countries should gain new momentum on the political level and in multilateral activities through concrete economic initiatives, institutional agreements in the fields of energy, education, and health, as well as increased cooperation in culture.
The dimension of Mediterranean cooperation between the two countries was also discussed.
