(Patria) - BiH Presidency member Denis Bećirović reacted with a statement to yesterday's announcements by the President of Republika Srpska, Milorad Dodik, that police stations in Republika Srpska will have the task of expelling the High Representative Christian Schmidt as soon as they learn he is in that entity, and that a decree on Schmidt's arrest and deportation is being prepared.
Bećirović believes that Dodik's brutal threats directed at the legal High Representative of the international community in Bosnia and Herzegovina strongly resemble the threats made by the convicted war criminal Ratko Mladić to representatives of the international community.
According to him, after Dodik's threat to "surround the barracks of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina according to the Slovenian model from 1991," this is the most dangerous threat to the peace process.
"For weeks and months, I have been warning international and domestic officials that an open attack on the constitutional order of the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the fundamental provisions of the Dayton Peace Agreement is underway in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Unfortunately, we are entering the third month of an undisguised and brutal assault on the constitutional order with unforeseeable consequences for the peace and stability of this part of Europe.
The international community, and especially the signatories of the Dayton Peace Agreement, must stop the destruction of the Dayton Peace Agreement and the opening of a new hotspot in the heart of Europe.
The essence of Dodik's brutal threat to the High Representative of the international community in Bosnia and Herzegovina is not personal. This is not an attack on Schmidt alone. It is a direct threat to the West, to the Dayton Peace Agreement, to the peace process, and to the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Finally, I publicly call on the Peace Implementation Council in Bosnia and Herzegovina to firmly support the High Representative of the international community in Bosnia and Herzegovina, who should, as soon as possible, make a decision to dismiss Milorad Dodik from the position of President of the Republika Srpska entity and President of SNSD due to anti-Dayton activities," Bećirović stated.
