Bećirović resigns, Lagumdžija stays in his seat, extraordinary Congress on December 6

The session of the SDP Main Board has ended, lasting a full 12 hours. After a heated debate, it was decided that the extraordinary Congress of this party, which suffered a debacle in the General Elections, will be held on December 6, reports a reporter from the Bosnian news agency Patria.

Towards the end of the session, Denis Bećirović, Vice President of the SDP, resigned from that position. After leaving the hall of the Centar Municipality, where the session was held, he told journalists that he did so because the party president, Zlatko Lagumdžija, refused to step down from his position.

As he said a few days ago, Bećirović repeated that the extraordinary Congress is a "staged Congress," and he also accused the party president of diverting attention from substantive changes in the SDP and internal democratization.

After these events, it is certain that the turmoil in the SDP will continue, with the most dissatisfaction with this decision shown by representatives of the SDP from Tuzla and Krajina.

The extraordinary Congress is expected to elect the entire leadership of the SDP.
