Bećirović: Pope Francis was a true friend of BiH

(Patria) - Member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Denis Bećirović sent a telegram of condolences to the Secretary of State of the Holy See Cardinal Pietro Parolin, the Secretariat of State of the Holy See and the Archbishop of Vrhbosna Monsignor Tomo Vukšić on the occasion of the death of the head of the Roman Catholic Church, His Holiness Pope Francis.

“Your Eminence, I received the news that Pope Francis is no longer with us with great sadness. We will remember Pope Francis for his sincere commitment to peace, equality, and solidarity. I had the great honor to speak with Pope Francis about the values of peace, dialogue, community, and cooperation. This conversation remained deeply etched in my memory, as well as the words of respect that His Holiness expressed towards Bosnia and Herzegovina on that occasion.

His Holiness was a true friend of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the whole world, and he expressed his attitude towards Bosnia and Herzegovina and its peoples by visiting Sarajevo in June 2015.

His Holiness Pope Francis will be remembered as a man of justice and humanity. His selfless contribution to humanity until the last day of his life was peace, solidarity, justice, and human dignity.

With his extraordinary moral authority, Pope Francis represented a strong spiritual support for all people of goodwill around the world. The world and the Roman Catholic Church have lost a true fighter for understanding and love among peoples, especially for peace in the whole world.

On behalf of the citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina and on my own behalf, I extend to you and all Catholics in the world my condolences on the occasion of the death of the head of the Roman Catholic Church, His Holiness Pope Francis.
