Bećirović: The start of concrete action by the OHR is encouraging.

(Patria) - The bodies of the BiH entity of RS have carried out an unprecedented blow to the foundations of the Dayton Peace
Agreement and a full member of the United Nations - the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina. In essence, it is about repeating the unconstitutional methods used in 1992 by the convicted war criminal Radovan Karadžić. There is no one left in Bosnia and Herzegovina and abroad who is not aware of the disastrous and dangerous moves being made by the president of the BiH entity of RS, Milorad Dodik, stated member of the BiH Presidency Denis Bećirović.

"The High Representative's decisions are not the end of the crisis. They are not even the beginning of the end. This is the end of the beginning. Uncertain weeks and months lie ahead of us, during which the preservation of peace and the survival of the Dayton Peace Agreement will be decided. At this moment, there is no room for any triumphalist statements, but there is room for realistic optimism that, with the combined efforts of the international community and the legal bodies of the state, we will protect all citizens and peoples of Bosnia and Herzegovina," Bećirović emphasizes.

As he says, the international community, the witnesses to the Dayton Peace Agreement, and the OHR must now show strength and unity."

"Almost three decades of building peace and security for all people in Bosnia and Herzegovina have been jeopardized by Dodik's irresponsible and adventurous policy. One should not be deceived for a moment and think that Dodik's regime will stop after today's OHR decisions. New dangerous blows to the Dayton Peace
Agreement will follow, according to the direct instructions of Dodik's mentors from outside the borders of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Peace, security, and the constitutional order of Bosnia and Herzegovina must be defended by all available legal and other legitimate means in accordance with national and international law. This must be done, above all, by the institutions provided for by the Dayton Peace Agreement and the Constitution of BiH," states Bećirović.

He calls on the countries that are witnesses to the Dayton Peace Agreement to seriously consider the application of Article 1(b) of Annex 1-A of the Agreement on the Military Aspects of the Peace Settlement in the coming period, which provides a clear international legal basis for more effective action and the return of stability and security to Bosnia and
Herzegovina.
