Bećirović: There is no justification for killing innocent civilians in Gaza

(Patria) - Based on the assessments and positions I publicly stated on October 8, 2023, I once again most strongly condemn the killing of innocent civilians. There are no more or less valuable human lives. Anyone who kills an innocent person is a criminal, stated member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Denis Bećirović in his reaction.

"I unequivocally condemn the brutal attack on the Al-Ahli Arabi Baptist Hospital in Gaza in which innocent Palestinian civilians were killed, including a large number of children and women. Attacks on hospitals, which represent a symbol of selfless help to people, are attacks on humanity. The protection of medical personnel, medical institutions, and the provision of medical assistance to the wounded and sick are guaranteed by international humanitarian law.

I express my deepest condolences to the families of the victims of this horrific attack, as well as to the families of the victims of all previous attacks. The killing of innocent civilians, violence, and heinous terrorism are unacceptable for Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Hatred and revenge must not be promoted in Bosnia and Herzegovina, but rather a culture of dialogue and tolerance, as well as a policy of peaceful dispute resolution. Our country will continue to build its position as an active, principled, and credible subject on the international stage.

It is in the interest of all humanity to urgently stop the shedding of innocent blood and end the conflict in the Middle East. Civilized people sincerely sympathize with the families of the victims, regardless of their religious, ethnic, or other affiliation.

Stopping the war, achieving a just peace, and establishing two states – Israel and Palestine, is the only long-term solution," Bećirović stated in the press release.
