Bećirović at UN Summit, General Assembly and Security Council

(Patria) - Chairman of the Presidency of BiH Denis Bećirović will participate in the 79th session of the UN General Assembly in New York, which will be attended by delegations of UN member states led by heads of state or government.

Bećirović will address the Summit of the Future on 22 September, the UN General Assembly on 25 September and the UN Security Council at an open debate titled "Leadership for Peace" on 26 September.

As part of foreign policy activities at UN headquarters, Bećirović will hold meetings with UN Secretary-General António Guterres, President of the UN General Assembly Philemon Yang, and UN Under-Secretary-General and Special Adviser to the UN Secretary-General on the Prevention of Genocide Alice Wairimu Nderitu.

Also, at UN headquarters in New York, he will speak with numerous heads of state and presidents of governments.

This is the first time that the Chairman of the Presidency of BiH, in addition to a series of bilateral meetings with heads of state or government and participation in accompanying high-level events, will deliver addresses at three key events taking place this year at the UN: the General Assembly, the Summit of the Future, and a special thematic session of the Security Council dedicated to leadership for peace and security.

UN High-Level Week represents a key event in global diplomacy during which world leaders, as well as high officials of international organizations, discuss the most important global issues and challenges.

This year's session of the UN General Assembly emphasizes global responsibility for a sustainable and equitable world.

The focus of this year's 79th session of the UN General Assembly will be on addressing urgent global challenges, from climate change and health crises to resolving military conflicts and sustainable development.

Also, the importance of responsibility and inclusive dialogue and advocating for change will be emphasized, so that with joint capacities we can work towards a brighter future for all of humanity.
