Bećirović - Lührmann: Germany will take concrete measures against persons who threaten the Dayton Agreement

(Patria) - BiH Presidency member Denis Bećirović spoke with Anna Lührmann, Minister of State for Europe and Climate at the Federal Foreign Office of the Federal Republic of Germany.

The focus of the talks was the security situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the region. Bećirović pointed out that the attack on the constitutional order of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Dayton Peace Agreement by the leadership of the BiH entity Republika Srpska is still ongoing. He said that the anti-Dayton and anti-constitutional activities of the RS authorities need to be stopped as soon as possible. He emphasized that Bosnia and Herzegovina is a democratic and legal state, based on the rule of law, and that any disrespect for the Constitution and laws of Bosnia and Herzegovina constitutes a serious criminal offense. 

Legal disputes cannot be interpreted with political arguments. He also pointed out that it is important for the international community to adequately respond to threats to the constitutional order of Bosnia and Herzegovina, with the aim of protecting peace and security in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the region.

Anna Lührmann, Minister of State for Europe and Climate at the Federal Foreign Office of the Federal Republic of Germany, emphasized that the FR Germany is closely monitoring the situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina and supports the decisions of the independent judicial institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina. She stated that the FR Germany will also take concrete measures against those who threaten the Dayton Peace Agreement. She stressed that all political actors should protect the independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Minister Lührmann said that the FR Germany will continue to provide support to Bosnia and Herzegovina in its efforts to maintain peace and stability, as well as the unimpeded functioning of institutions and the judicial system.

Bećirović said that the overall engagement of the friendly FR Germany is extremely important for Bosnia and Herzegovina. He especially thanked for the strong support of the FR Germany to Bosnia and Herzegovina on its European and Euro-Atlantic path.
