Bećirović: The Kingdom of the Netherlands strongly supports an independent and sovereign BiH

(Patria) - Within the official visit to the Kingdom of the Netherlands, the Chairperson of the BiH Presidency Denis Bećirović spoke with the President of the Senate of the Netherlands Jan Anthonie Bruijn and the President of the House of Representatives of the Parliament of the Netherlands Martin Bosma.

The presidents of both houses of the Parliament of the Netherlands expressed the importance of remembering the victims of the genocide in Srebrenica. The genocide in Srebrenica is a dark chapter of humanity, and therefore it is important that July 11th is remembered worldwide. They also emphasized that the Netherlands strongly continues to support the independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity of the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

During the talks, Bećirović expressed satisfaction with the strengthening of cooperation between the Kingdom of the Netherlands and Bosnia and Herzegovina, including, among other things, intensified high-level visits. Bećirović thanked them for adopting the Parliamentary resolution, which opened the possibility for the Netherlands' support for the European Council's decision to open negotiations with Bosnia and Herzegovina.

He expressed hope that the Parliament of the Netherlands will continue to support the European and Euro-Atlantic integration of Bosnia and Herzegovina in the coming period.

The President of the Senate of the Netherlands Jan Anthonie Bruijn and the President of the House of Representatives of the Parliament of the Netherlands Martin Bosma emphasized the need to intensify reform processes in priority areas for Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The Chairperson of the BiH Presidency Denis Bećirović expressed special gratitude for the Netherlands' engagement in assisting the victims of the genocide in Srebrenica, and for its strong support for the adoption of the Srebrenica Resolution in the United Nations General Assembly. In this context, Bećirović particularly emphasized the need for continuous dissemination of truth and justice, and for confronting the past in Bosnia and Herzegovina, which includes the process of reconciliation, trials for war crimes, and preserving the memory of the victims.
