Bećirović: Is it possible that the entire planet is wrong and only politicians from the RS are telling the truth

The decision to initiate a request for revision of the International Court of Justice ruling on Bosnia and Herzegovina's lawsuit against Serbia for genocide has sparked a new political crisis. In tonight's Pressing on N1, state parliamentarian Denis Bećirović, researcher at the Hague Tribunal Nevenka Tromp, and director of the Center for Regionalization Aleksandar Popov spoke on this topic, Patria reports.

As Popov said at the beginning of Pressing, after today's meeting of Tomislav Nikolić and Aleksandar Vučić with Milorad Dodik and Mladen Ivanić in Belgrade, overly harsh assessments were made, which, in his opinion, is understandable because elections in Serbia are approaching.

''I think these are overly harsh assessments, but one should keep in mind that we are in a time of pre-election activities. In such an atmosphere, such messages are expected because the main candidate for president must define himself as a man who cares about protecting the interests of Serbia, the Serbian people in the region, and the Republic of Srpska itself,'' Popov said at the beginning of tonight's Pressing.

He emphasized that the entire political crisis in which BiH has again found itself is the result of ''games without limits where there is no referee to blow the final whistle''.

''This is a continuation of Bosnia and Herzegovina's games without limits because there is no referee to blow the final whistle. We had the Referendum on the Day of the RS, then we had January 9 and inappropriate statements about the secession of the Republic of Srpska, which was also welcomed by the President of Serbia. Not even Izetbegović himself believes whether this request will pass. It is up to the Court to decide whether to initiate a revision, but it is not good that BiH politicians use these opportunities to strengthen their positions. Dodik and Izetbegović are using this; this undefined situation suits them because they can do whatever they want,'' added the N1 guest.

Bećirović, appearing on Pressing tonight, said that after the Belgrade meeting, many, as he stated, inappropriate and threatening messages could be heard.

''Today we heard many inappropriate and threatening messages. The arguments of those who committed aggression against BiH were tanks, planes, and mass war crimes. BiH's arguments today are tied to peace and justice. Serbia bears great responsibility for why BiH is embarking on this process. In Serbia, after 2007, the expected catharsis did not occur. That same Serbia boasts of blocking the Srebrenica Resolution. They do not respect the decisions of the Constitutional Court of BiH, even though they are binding. What would happen if Serbia's neighbors came to its territory and overturned the decisions of its courts, as the President of Serbia did by coming to Banja Luka for the celebration of the Day of the Republic of Srpska,'' said state deputy Bećirović and added:

''I must say that as a state deputy, I have been saying in Parliament for years that this issue must be approached in a professional manner. This is not a political but a moral issue. This campaign attempts to individualize the case; that propaganda no longer works. They removed me because I claimed that the Republic of Srpska is not a state. The campaign is targeting Izetbegović, but this is not a matter of one man or party; this issue transcends any party interests,'' he emphasized.

In his opinion, the principles of legality must be respected. He stressed that last week's consultation, where the decision to initiate a request for revision of the International Court of Justice ruling was made, was not attended only by Bosniaks.

''We must all respect the principles of legality. I can very clearly say that this consultation was not attended only by Bosniaks. Marinko Pejić, Miro Lazović, Mirko Pejanović were there... Softić is the legal agent of BiH, and Mr. Ivanić should respect the fact that he receives a salary from taxpayers and should have more understanding for the country of which he is a citizen. People from the RS should actually have the most reasons for filing a revision. Is it possible that the entire planet is wrong, and only they are telling the truth,'' Bećirović wondered.
