Bećirović: We will strengthen the alliance between BiH and the United Kingdom

(Patria) - Member of the Presidency of BiH Denis Bećirović spoke with the Ambassador of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland (UK) to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Julian Reilly.

The meeting discussed bilateral relations between the two countries, the situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the region, as well as the challenges facing Bosnia and Herzegovina.

In the context of the UK Government's support for Bosnia and Herzegovina's European and Euro-Atlantic integration process, the member of the BiH Presidency expressed satisfaction with the very good partnership relations between Bosnia and Herzegovina and the UK.

Ambassador Reilly confirmed the UK's commitment to protecting the independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity of Bosnia and Herzegovina. He also expressed support for Bosnia and Herzegovina's European and Euro-Atlantic path, as well as for strengthening a multi-ethnic and democratic Bosnia and Herzegovina. He stated that the UK Government will continue to focus on providing various forms of bilateral assistance, with the aim of strengthening a democratic and free civil society.

Bećirović emphasized the importance of the full involvement of the UK Government in the process of preserving peace and stability in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the region. He stressed that all politicians in the Western Balkans should respect international law and contribute to building stability and security in this part of Europe.

The interlocutors pointed out the importance of preserving the memory of the victims of the genocide in Srebrenica, emphasizing the importance of respecting international justice and solidarity. Bećirović thanked for the UK's support in adopting the Resolution on the International Day of Remembrance and Commemoration of the Genocide in Srebrenica in 1995.

Furthermore, potential agreements were discussed that should strengthen bilateral economic cooperation, including facilitating the visa regime for citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina when entering the UK, as well as continuing to improve cooperation in the field of defense and security. The importance of further direct investments in Bosnia and Herzegovina was also highlighted.
