Bećirović: To the well-intentioned I say let us preserve BiH, and to the ill-intentioned that they will find in us an impenetrable bulwark

(Patria) - There is no more important issue than the preservation of the state of BiH. We work for the benefit of the state of the people, let us preserve the state and the people. Let loyalty and devotion to BiH be paramount.

This was stated tonight at the Sarajevo City Hall by the member of the Presidency of BiH Denis Bećirović, who, together with the Chairperson of the Presidency of BiH Željko Komšić, hosted a ceremonial reception on the occasion of BiH Independence Day.

At the beginning of his address, Bećirović expressed special gratitude to the citizens of BiH who decided at a legal and internationally recognized referendum that our country should be independent, sovereign, and unified, as well as to the anti-fascists from the last century who restored statehood and defended the independence of BiH, Fena reports.

- Behind us is the long and glorious past of our country. Let us be proud of the first one thousand and seventy-five years since the land of Bosnia was mentioned in historical sources.

After this millennial journey, we cannot go back, we must only go forward. Ahead of us is the Euro-Atlantic and European future of BiH. Deviating from this path would have fatal consequences.

That is why I consistently and everywhere insist on the implementation of the adopted strategic foreign policy goals. I do not do this by chance. This is the best way to preserve the security of our people and the state - said Bećirović.

He reminded that BiH is a full member of the United Nations, the Council of Europe, the OSCE, and a country that stands at the gates of the European Union and NATO alliance. These are, as he added, indisputable international legal facts that separatists must be aware of.

Likewise, as he added, they must finally understand that entities have never had and will never have international subjectivity.

Those who thought, as Bećirović said, that they could, contrary to all democratic principles, create a state within the state of BiH ended up as convicted criminals with final verdicts, most of them are in prisons today or left this world stigmatized.

The same fate awaits, he added, all those who might again try to walk the paths of convicted war criminals.

Bećirović stated that state holidays are an opportunity to initiate concrete steps aimed at strengthening the statehood and independence of BiH, so he initiated two concrete proposals.

- Just as there is a House of the Bosnian Language in Tuzla, I propose that in every municipality or city, wherever possible, we open houses of the Bosnian language. Second, let us follow the positive example from Cazin, where the Museum of the Bosnian Kingdom was opened.

I propose that in every municipality or city, wherever possible, we open museums dedicated to the Bosnian and Bosnian-Herzegovinian state. Let us do everything in our power to make our country stronger and safer.

To well-intentioned people, we say that we should preserve Bosnia and Herzegovina together. To the ill-intentioned, who have not given up on illusory projects of greater states, we say that they will find in us an impenetrable bulwark.

So, with friends in a friendly manner, with enemies as they deserve - Bećirović emphasized.

The reception at the City Hall was attended by numerous representatives of political, public, and cultural life, as well as representatives of embassies and the diplomatic corps, and many other guests.
