(Patria) - Member of the Presidency of BiH Denis Bećirović discussed issues in the gas sector with the Minister of Energy, Mining and Industry of the Federation of BiH Vedran Lakić, the director of "BH Gas" Nihada Glamoč, the director of Energoinvest d.d. Sarajevo Bisera Hadžialjević, and the Minister of Public Utilities, Infrastructure, Spatial Planning, Construction and Environmental Protection of Sarajevo Canton Almir Bečarević.
At the beginning, it was noted that the natural gas sector is currently inadequately and insufficiently regulated, primarily due to the lack of an adequate legal and regulatory framework at the state level, which produces a series of negative economic, legal and other consequences.
Also, the entity usurpation of state powers has proven in practice to be detrimental to the establishment of a single market in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and opens space for legal and economic violence.
It was emphasized that the law submitted by Bećirović to the procedure is fully aligned with the relevant EU acquis and best business practices, and that a whole team of eminent experts in the field, led by BH Gas, EU and international experts in the field, participated in its drafting.
During the conversation, the relevant ministers and directors of key companies in the gas sector welcomed the proposal of the state law on natural gas transport, regulator and internal market in Bosnia and Herzegovina, which Dr. Bećirović submitted to the procedure on September 19, 2023.
