Bećirović: Unblocking of Mostar preserved the idea of a free BiH

(Patria) - BiH Presidency member Denis Bećirović, accompanied by his associates, laid flowers today and paid tribute to the fallen members of the Army of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina in Podhare and Šehitluci cemetery on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the unblocking of Mostar, the liberation of the Bjelopolje valley, and the death of Brigadier General Midhad Hujdur Hujka.

Bećirović spoke with former members of the Army and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of RBiH, and acknowledged their contribution to the defense of Mostar and Bosnia and Herzegovina.

According to him, by unblocking Mostar and liberating Bijelo Polje, the Army of RBiH, among other things, ensured that Mostar remained a city for all citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Bećirović added that the idea of destroying Bosnia and Herzegovina was defeated.

During the conversation, the significance of the battle for the unblocking of Mostar on June 30, 1993, was highlighted, which is remembered with pride by the fighters of the Army of RBiH and the citizens of Mostar, but also with sadness, given that they lost Brigadier General and hero of the liberation war Midhad Hujdur Hujka and his comrades who gave their lives for the defense of Mostar and Bosnia and Herzegovina.

In the battles for the unblocking of Mostar, in addition to Midhad Hujdur Hujka, his comrades Ćamil Džubur, Armin Ćišić, Zoran Imamović, Sabahudin Balavac, Faris Kalaba, Ifet Logo, Jusuf Zvizdić, Ramiz Husnić, Mujo Jelovac, Ramiz Dedić, and Jusuf Jelovac also lost their lives.
