Bećirović to Čović: Do not postpone our obligations on the European path

Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina Denis Bećirović sent a new letter to the Speaker of the House of Peoples Dragan Čović requesting the continuation of the 2nd joint session of both houses of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH, which began in January 2014, reports the Patria News Agency.

- I am sorry that I am forced to address you for the third time with a request to convene the continuation of the 2nd joint session of both houses of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH. Namely, I want to believe that you also consider it important after more than four months to conclude the session at which the parliamentary debate on legally and democratically proposed amendments to the BiH Constitution was held with the aim of implementing the judgment of the European Court of Human Rights in the case Sejdić and Finci v. Bosnia and Herzegovina – the letter states.

For clarification, Bećirović stated, on January 21, 2014, the debate at the 2nd joint session of both houses of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH on legally submitted amendments to the BiH Constitution with the aim of implementing the Sejdić and Finci Judgment was concluded.

- As the chairman of that session, you concluded the debate and announced the scheduling of its continuation for voting and the final completion of work. However, Mr. Čović, the fifth month is passing during which you do not schedule the continuation of the 2nd joint session, which is an unprecedented case in BiH parliamentary practice. In this way, you are not only postponing the fulfillment of obligations on our European path but also seriously questioning the completion of one of the most important sessions in this mandate period – Bećirović stated in the letter.
