Bečarević sends open letter to Lakić: Your statements on electricity price increase of 2.5 KM disgrace the minister's position

(Patria) - The President of the Cantonal Board of the Party of BiH, Almir Bečarević, sent an open letter to the Federal Minister of Energy, Mining and Industry, Vedran Lakić. As he stated, he is writing the letter from a political dimension, not just a professional one.

"The political dimension, professional qualification, and primarily moral character compel me to publicly address the minister:

MINISTER, I AM ASHAMED OF YOUR LIES THAT YOU ARE SPREADING IN THE PUBLIC SPHERE, THEREBY DISGRACING THE POSITION YOU HOLD AND PROFANING THE SECTOR YOU REPRESENT.

Your calculations, minister, that the 'average electricity price increase for 85 percent of customers will amount to 2.5 KM per month' will go down in the annals of populist statements, which only aim to appease the public and consciously deceive all users of JP EPBiH.

Thinking about how you even arrived at the amount of 2.5 KM, I wonder if you have ever entered, for example, an apartment or house in Herzegovina and seen what it's like to live at 40 degrees Celsius without air conditioning? Do you know that almost every apartment or house in Herzegovina has at least one air conditioner and how it is possible that in such facilities the monthly electricity bill is 25 KM?

For over 70 percent of JP EPBiH customers, there will be a significantly higher increase in electricity prices than your calculated, famous 2.5 KM, and for the remaining 30 percent, there won't be, because their houses and apartments are empty, given that 30 percent of the population has left us in the last few years.

The full destructive impact of your untruths that you are spreading in public is now seriously affecting the energy sector, which is slowly experiencing its collapse, and the consequences of your lack of knowledge in the matter will have unforeseeable consequences in this sector.

Several examples of the destructive impact on the energy sector of the Federation of BiH:
• under the imposed rule of the Troika, the loss of JP EPBiH per semi-annual calculation increased compared to the previous year, from 24 million KM to 26 million KM. EP BiH's revenue drop is over 30 million KM. A profit of approximately 1.0 million KM is planned for 2024, but the reality is a loss of 60 million KM to 120 million KM.
• in the last 10 years, there will be the smallest supply of natural gas to consumers in FBiH,
• this year will be marked by the lowest export of electricity,
• this year records a drastic drop in coal production in the concern's mines,
• the Ministry's obligation, after the adoption of two so-called "reform" energy laws, was to adopt
over 50 bylaws. A year has passed since the adoption of the laws, and not a single one has seen the light of day,
• the Ministry's obligation was to control the reform in FERK, as they were assigned the areas of gas and heat supply. After a year, there is no trace of natural gas and heat energy on the FERK website either,
• JP EPBiH and EP HZHB have not obtained the status of public suppliers according to the new Law, and this obligation was within the first 9 months of the law's adoption,
• JP EPBiH has the obligation of complete restructuring within two years of the Law's adoption. A year has passed, and there is no sign of the start of restructuring,
• EP HZHB achieved a profit of 2 million KM in the first 6 months, compared to 53 million KM in the same period last year,
• for over 15 months, you have been "wallowing in mud" the Law on the South Interconnection BiH-HR, which you withdrew from the parliamentary procedure, and now a commission that you praise as something "politically" agreed upon is harmonizing it. The train is leaving for this investment, and you, professional politicians and ice producers, are now turning a ready law into a debt,
• you propose investing in nuclear energy and make statements about building a gas pipeline in the Una-Sana Canton. I will deliver LEGO bricks to you so you can start building all of this.

Dear Minister,

This is only part of what is called the destruction of energy and mining, and the consequences of inaction and ignorance over the 15 months since the adoption of the "reform" laws that we are all witnessing. Your untruths are now reaching the realm of pathology and are difficult for anyone to comprehend.

In 2015, the average annual electricity consumption per household was 4500 kWh, which means 380 kWh per month, all according to the survey conducted by the Agency for Statistics of BiH at the time (you have it in the Ministry).

I believe you have advisors in the field of electricity, so let them calculate whether an increase of 2.5 KM per month on this average consumption is correct. Electricity consumption for 25 KM per month is on the verge of abject poverty.

At the same time, natural gas consumption in FBiH this year will be 160 million Sm3, while just two or three years ago it was 210 million Sm3. Therefore, a 3.69% reduction in the gas price is tragicomic and amounts to a mere 1.5 KM per month and will not increase natural gas consumption in any way. KS will continue to use coal and wood.

Finally, this Open Letter aims to transparently present the Ministry's actions, which is not characteristic of you, but it is understandable to me. As an imposed government, you must present everything in rosy colors, but the end will not be happy, because those who have a happy ending take 800,000 KM of public money for New Year, while citizens have to pay ever-increasing energy prices. Your goal is an electricity price increase of over 50%.

I can understand, though not comprehend, that it is important for any imposed government to distract the public and fictitiously present results, but remember a presidential statement that you can fool some people all the time (even the American administration), but you cannot fool all people all the time.

And after all, you don't have to answer these facts, because you have a biography in basketball, and I have one in energy, our tables are not even remotely similar, nor is our view of energy," Bečarević stated.
